How to Use the Earth EV App
1Choose Your Charging Mode

The Earth EV Wallbox supports three charging modes. Choose based on your customer's needs.

Plug & ChargeSimplest optionPlug in and charging starts automatically. No app needed.
RFID ModeTap & chargeTap your RFID card to start and stop charging. Keeps unauthorised users locked out. No app needed.
App ModeSmart controlFull control: start and stop, schedules, power limits, solar charging modes and live data.
Quick Comparison
  1. App required to charge: App Mode only.
  2. Solar charging (ECO and Solar+): App Mode only.
  3. Scheduled charging: App Mode only.
  4. Access control: RFID and App Mode (Plug & Charge is open access).
  5. Network required: Scheduling requires App Mode and a Wi-Fi connection.
2Plug & Charge

Plug in and charging starts automatically. No card or app needed.

Earth EV physical Stop and Unlock button
Important to Know
  1. The physical Stop & Unlock button on the charger stops charging and unlocks the cable.
  2. Plug & Charge does not require a network connection to function.
  3. To restrict access to RFID or App Mode only, change the "Charging Mode" in the app.
3RFID Mode

Tap your RFID card to start charging. Tap again to stop and unlock the cable.

Earth EV RFID reader location
Important to Know
  1. Two RFID cards are included in the box, pre-paired to the charger at the factory.
  2. Present the card within range of the RFID reader (shown in the image above).
4App Mode

Full smart control from the Earth EV app: start and stop, power limits, live charging, solar charging modes and scheduled charging.

4.1Start & Stop Charging
Blue Charge button in the Earth EV app

Open the app and tap the blue "Charge" button to begin a session. Tap "Stop & Unlock" to end the session and unlock the cable.

4.2Power Limit & Live Charging
Power Limit setting in the Earth EV app Live charging data display

Use the "Power Limit" slider to restrict the maximum charge rate. Live data shows current draw in real time during an active session.

Available in Every Charging Mode

Power Limit applies in Plug & Charge, RFID and App Mode. Changes take effect immediately during an active charging session.

4.3Solar Charging: ECO & Solar+
ECO mode enabled in the Earth EV app
How ECO Works
  1. ECO mode always provides a base of 6 A from the grid per phase.
  2. Any excess solar generation is added on top of the 6 A grid base.
  3. The vehicle charges continuously on 6 A from the grid plus any excess solar.
How Solar+ Works
  1. Solar+ charges using excess solar generation only.
  2. A minimum of 1.4 kW of solar export is required to begin charging.
  3. Charging pauses automatically if solar export drops below the threshold.
4.4Scheduled Charging

6Share Charger Access

Grant another user access to your charger via the Earth EV app.

Both phones must be within Bluetooth range of the charger for shared access setup to work.
  1. User 2: Download the Earth EV app and create a new account.
  2. User 2: Add the charger using the serial number. The app displays a one-time 6-digit passcode.
  3. User 1: Open the app → "Settings" → "Share Access".
  4. User 1: Tap "Share Access" and enter the 6-digit passcode from User 2's screen.
  5. User 2 will now have access to the charger in their app.
Installer Troubleshooting
1Check CT and Charger Status
  1. In the app go to "Settings" → "Charger Status".
  2. All CTs should show a current reading (even 0 A if no load is present).
  3. A CT with no reading indicates a wiring or pairing issue: check the connections and "RS485 Address".
2Solar+ Won't Start or Low Solar Reading
  1. Check CT clamp direction: the arrow must point toward the load (away from the mains).
  2. Check RS485 cable connections at the CT Hub and at the charger.
  3. Confirm the CT Hub is powered (its LED should be lit).
Simple Example

Solar generating 5 kW while the house uses 2 kW leaves 3 kW of export available for charging. DLM Max Current must be set to your actual supply limit for the reading to be accurate.

3Charger Not Responding or Server Not Connected
Troubleshooting: Server Not Connected
  1. Confirm Wi-Fi credentials entered in the app are correct (password is case-sensitive).
  2. Ensure the charger is within Wi-Fi range of the router.
  3. Try rebooting the charger: isolator off → wait 10 seconds → isolator on.
  4. Verify the router is not blocking new devices (check MAC address filtering).
Still Not Connected?
  1. Check the charger's Wi-Fi LED: solid means connected, flashing means searching.
  2. Factory reset (use only as a last resort): hold the reset button for 10 seconds. This clears all settings and requires a full recommissioning, starting from Download Earth EV App & Register.
4DLM Verification
  1. Go to "Settings" → "Manage Current" → "DLM Settings".
  2. Confirm the values shown match what was entered in Set Up Dynamic Load Management.
5Smart Features Not Working

Solar charging, scheduling and DLM require all three of the following to be active:

  1. Active internet connection on the charger (confirmed via Wi-Fi).
  2. "Server Address" showing "Connected" (teal) in "Settings" → "Network Settings".
  3. Correct timezone set in "Charger Information".
If "Server Address" shows "Not Connected" (red), fix the connection first using step 3 above.
